M.Sc.Eng. Paweł Baran

He graduated from the AGH University of Science and Technology in the field of Materials Engineering with a specialization in Functional Materials. Both engineering and master’s works were focused on perovskite-based nanomaterials. The investigation was performed in cooperation with the Academic Centre for Materials and Nanotechnology AGH and the SOLARIS National Synchrotron Radiation Centre.

During the studies, Paweł Baran was engaged in Alchemy and Adamantium Student Research Groups, where novel, multicomponent, high-entropy perovskite of rare-earth and transition metals had been investigated. Moreover, he took part in two international projects focused on synchrotron radiation and performed at Institute Laue–Langevin (Grenoble, France) and Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin (Germany). Paweł also took part in some projects focused on the application of novel perovskites as magnetic, multiferroic materials and agglomeration of ionic liquids. The obtained results have been presented in several scientific articles and conference speeches, four of which were awarded laureate titles.

Nowadays he is a PhD student in Chemical Engineering at Cracow University of Technology. Paweł’s PhD thesis is focused on Lead Perovskite Quantum Dots (LPQD) with particular emphasis on the stabilization of the dots synthesized via conventional and unconventional supersaturated recrystallization methods. The research is carried out within the framework of the Sonata Bis project entitled “Tailor-made” perovskite quantum dots as an element of new functional nanomaterials” under the scientific supervision of Prof. Katarzyna Matras-Postołek (UMO contract no. 2022/46/E/ST5/00306).
